Gaming Journal #1

Today is October 30, 2025, and I will be starting my first journal entry after my hiatus from That’s All Games. There may be varying amounts of content in these posts, and they will occur when enough has gone on recently in my gaming habits to share updates with my readers. I may include some other non-gaming updates in the process, if only to ensure there’s enough to read.

Pokémon TCG Pocket had an update today, which includes a new set called Mega Rising, which includes 3 packs to choose from. They also included a new share feature, which is already helping me complete my collection of older cards. This update has added a new level cap as well. I opened 10 of the Mega Altaria pack, in addition to the 2 daily card packs every player gets in a day, with a few good finds, (such as Greninja EX). Not a bad update.

I’m still playing through Pokémon Legends Z-A, and have completed 4 rogue mega evolution battles so far, and got up to rank E in the story. The game is fine for what it is so far, though I’m not sure how thoroughly I’ll like it by the time I finish it. I’ll give complete thoughts once I complete the story in a future journal update.

Occasionally, I replay the first two Golden Sun games (all three were reviewed years ago on this site), and I’m in the process of maxing out the levels of the characters in the second game. I managed to get Felix to the mid 90’s (I’m not looking at the info right now, apologies for lack of specifics). Partway through the process, this happened:

I got a whopping 127,602 experience points in one battle. To do this, I encountered two wonder birds in the islet cave. Since they can revive a KO’ed ally, one can get them into a cycle of reviving, and attacking until the wonder bird you ignore runs away. My best guess is that I KO’ed 12 or 13 of them in one battle. Once I finish leveling up the characters, I’ll try my hand at a high score at the arena mode, and may report this in a future journal.

And lastly, I’ve been working on my book some more. I added more details on a character that’s somewhat important, but ran into some friction that I didn’t plan between her and the main characters. I needed a break from writing that section, at least until I figure out what to do with that portion of the story. Again, I’ll reveal more once things are finalized and when it’s a sure thing that the book will be published.

That’s all for now! Hopefully some more interesting things occur by the next journal entry.

  1. Great to hear from you again! I am also playing Legends Z-A right now 😀 Well done for the progress on the book, I am also working away on a fiction book right now and it’s a very rewarding thing to do 😀

      1. For sure – I kept putting it off, but have decided to just write a little bit every day, even if it isn’t completely right. I enjoy the sense of progress that gives me each day! Thank you! I hope your writing goes well too 😀
