Nintendo News: Nintendo Direct 2/9/2022

Well, we finally have the first Nintendo Direct of 2022. There’s a lot of good announcements here, so let’s take a look at them. My take on these announcements will be listed at the end of the article as well.

  • Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes releases June 24, 2022.
  • Advance Wars 1+2: Re-boot Camp releases April 8, 2022.
  • No Man’s Sky releases in the summer of 2022.
  • Mario Strikers Battle League releases June 10, 2022.
  • Splatoon 3 the Salmon Run mode will return in this game. The game releases in summer 2022.
  • Front Mission 1st: Remake releases in summer 2022. A remake of Front Mission 2 was also announced, release date TBA.
  • Disney Speedstorm will be released summer 2022.
  • Star Wars: The Force Unleashed releases April 20, 2022.
  • Assassin’s Creed The Ezio Collection featuring the first three games, and DLC releases February 17, 2022.
  • SD Gundam Battle Alliance releases sometime in 2022.
  • Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition which also features the game Radical Dreamers releases April 7, 2022.
  • More information on Kirby and the Forgotten Land was given. The game releases on March 25, 2022.
  • MLB The Show 22 releases on April 5, 2022.
  • Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece is a cloud version of the Kingdom Hearts games. It releases on February 10, 2022.
  • Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series featuring the first two games, releases on July 8, 2022.
  • Portal: Companion Collection featuring Portal 1 and 2 releases sometime in 2022.
  • Live A Live releases July 22, 2022.
  • Nintendo Switch Sports releases on April 29, 2022. A network test will be on February 18-20, 2022.
  • Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival releases sometime in 2022.
  • Triangle Strategy has a demo that transfers data up to chapter 3 after the Direct. Game releases March 4, 2022.
  • Cuphead gets DLC, The Delicious Last Course on June 30, 2022.
  • A Free update to Metroid Dread releases the day of the Direct. Another update will come in April, 2022.
  • Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings are now on the NES and SNES Nintendo Switch online apps the day of the Direct.
  • Zombie Army 4: Dead War is available on April 26, 2022.
  • GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is available the day of the Direct.
  • Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles releases June 10, 2022.
  • Lego Brawls releases in June 2022.
  • Two Point Campus releases May, 17 2022.
  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe gets DLC, which will come in 6 waves till the end of 2023. Wave 1 releases on March 18, 2022. The DLC can also be gained as part of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack.
  • Xenoblade Chronicles 3 releases in September 2022.

And now for my impressions of this presentation. There were a lot of big titles here, and most of the filler wasn’t taking up too much time either. I was most surprised by the inclusion of the rerelease of obscure Japan only game Live A Live, and quite pleased to see Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings here too. There were even some surprise DLC and update based content too. I’ll be glad to play Portal and Portal 2, and may even check out Chrono Cross. A lot of new and old games worth checking out are here, I’m quite satisfied, if worried about the state of my wallet.
