Nintendo News: Nintendo Direct 9/13/2018

Yesterday was the day the delayed September Nintendo Direct aired. I will go over the games and game updates that were mentioned in this video. It was full of news, and was a blast to view. Here, I will list a summary of what was announced!

  • The direct started with the announcement of Luigi’s Mansion 3 (working title) for the Nintendo Switch. The game is to be released in 2019.

Next, the direct focused on 3DS games:

  • Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn (remake of Wii game)(2019)
  • Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey (remake of DS game) (January 11, 2019)
  • Luigi’s Mansion (remake of Gamecube game) announced 2-player mode, and Amiibo compatibility (October 12, 2018)
  • Yokai Watch Blasters (currently available) announced the free Moon Rabbit Crew update on September 27, 2018.

Then, the direct focused on info for the Nintendo Switch:

  • Splatoon 2 has a free update bringing the game to Version 4. The date wasn’t mentioned in the direct, but is available now.
  • Mega Man 11 has Amiibo compatibility (October 2, 2018)
  • Mario Tennis Aces has an update featuring new characters. New characters will be added till next June. There are also new modes. Version 2 update available September 19, 2018.
  • Capcom Beat’em Up Bundle is a collection of these games (September 18, 2018):
    • Final Fight
    • King of Dragons
    • Captain Commando
    • Knights of the Round
    • Warriors of Fate
    • Armored Warriors
    • Battle Circuit
  • New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (January 11, 2019)
  • Katamari Damacy Reroll (remake of first game) (winter 2018)

Next, the direct focused on the paid Nintendo Switch Online service:

  • Service begins September 18, 2018
  • Required for online play
  • Classic NES games with online play
  • Save data cloud (Automatic backups for save data)
  • The smart phone App is supported (includes voice chat and extra features for some games)
  • Special offers (none mentioned in this direct)
  • Prices include:
    • $3.99 for 1 month
    • $7.99 for 3 months
    • $19.99 for 12 months
  • There are NES style controllers compatible with the Switch

Finally, the direct focuses on more Switch games:

  • Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Let’s Go Eevee features: secret techniques to clear obstacles, powerful moves in battle for the starting Pokemon, and hairstyle customization. These features were announced previously. (November 16, 2018)
  • Diablo III: Eternal Collection (November 2, 2018)
  • Super Mario Party reveals new mini-games and modes. (October 5, 2018)
  • Town (working title made by Game Freak) (2019)
  • Cities: Skylines Nintendo Switch Edition (launched the day of the direct)
  • Daemon X Machina (2019)
  • Yoshi’s Crafted World (Spring 2019)
  • Asmodee is bringing board game adaptations to the Switch:
    • Carcassonne (December 2018)
    • The Lord of the Rings: Living Card Game (April 2019)
    • Pandemic (March 2019)
    • More on the way (including Catan, and a dungeon crawler based on Munchkin)
  • Civilization VI (November 16, 2018)
  • Starlink: Battle for Atlas (featuring Star Fox characters exclusively on the switch edition) (October 16, 2018)
  • The World Ends with You: Final Remix (October 12, 2018)
  • DLC for Xenoblade Chronicles is available on September 14, 2018 for those with the expansion pass (September 21, 2018 for everyone else).
  • Warframe (November 20, 2018)
  • Just Dance 2019 (October 23, 2018)
  • FIFA 19 (September 28, 2018)
  • Sonic Team Racing (this winter)
  • NBA 2K19 (now available)
  • NBA 2K playgrounds 2 (this fall)
  • LEGO DC Super-villains (October 16, 2018)
  • Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition (2019)
  • Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD (released day of the direct)
  • World of Final Fantasy Maxima (November 6, 2018)
  • Chocobo’s Mystery Dungeon Everybuddy (this winter)
  • Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age (2019)

  • Final Fantasy IX (2019)
  • Final Fantasy X X-2 HD remaster (2019)
  • There is a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate hardware bundle (November 2, 2018)
  • The character Isabelle (Animal Crossing Series) is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  • Welcome to Animal Crossing (2019)
